Cheap sheets feel cheap, and they don't survive the wash. How to choose linen that guests notice and that lasts a season.
Linen is the first thing a guest touches and one of the first things they mention in a review. It also goes through the wash after every stay, so it has to be both pleasant and tough.
What to look for
- 100% cotton: it breathes, feels fresh and copes with hot washes. Synthetic blends can feel warm and sticky, especially in Dubai's heat.
- White: it looks clean in photos, signals hygiene, and can be washed hot and bleached when needed.
- A solid weave that doesn't feel thin or rough after a few washes.
- Towels that are soft but not so thick that they take forever to dry.
How many sets
Plan at least two, preferably three sets per bed: one on the bed, one in the wash and one in reserve for a quick turnaround or a stain that won't come out.
Small touches
- Two pillows per guest, ideally one firm and one soft.
- A mattress protector and pillow protectors on every bed.
- A spare blanket in the cupboard for colder nights in Belgium.
