The permit is only the start. Whole units, the Tourism Dirham, emergency information in Arabic and English: what applies once guests arrive.
Once your holiday home permit is approved by Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), a set of everyday rules applies. Airbnb's own guidance for hosts in Dubai summarises them. Always check DET's latest requirements as well.
The listing
- The DET permit number has to appear on the listing.
- Homes are rented as a whole unit: private and shared rooms are not allowed in residential properties.
- Individuals can register and manage a limited number of units; more requires a company with a DET licence.
The Tourism Dirham
Hosts collect the Tourism Dirham from guests per occupied bedroom per night, depending on whether the home is classified as Standard or Deluxe, and report it to DET every month. It must appear as a separate fee. Check DET for the current amounts.
Safety in the home
- Fire safety equipment, a first aid kit and clearly marked escape routes.
- Emergency notices and host contact details in both Arabic and English.
- Supervision of children in recreation areas.
Guests and visitors
- Information about guests may only be shared with the authorities.
- Limits apply to visitors, including no overnight visitors outside the booking.
- The holiday home permit has to be displayed in the unit.
